There is another variant of AdGuard app available on the official website. Once it these protections become accessible they often become the expectation. However, there is a workaround. I think that it’s overall positive to have options like this in the same light I think it’s great we have lets encrypt. I love those projects particularly and find them useful, but I also just wouldn’t have the expectation with most people to follow along once we get into config files. Some people just aren’t going to be willing learn to use dnscrypt’s or privoxy’s textbook of feature settings. Overall that’s a benefit to privacy being the default because it sorta lowers the barriers to entry and I’ve found a little easier to bridge with people who aren’t that technical. They’re several alternatives you can run together that would offer something comparable, but AdGuard seems to be a friendly enough app that you could recommend it to grandma without much problem. ![]() I don’t want to come off like an advertisement, but what I appreciate about them is that they make such a wide range of internet protections available in a pretty simple format. ![]() The commercial apps aren’t open-source but they do produce a few others that either greatly improve the ad/ tracker blocking in general or tools such as AdGuard Home which offer similar functionality to their commercial apps. Similarly, I felt reluctant to use their DNS servers.įor the software they produce I actually find them pretty trust worthy and informative. I actually didn’t see particular appeal in AG VPN because I was under the impression it was an American company based in the United States.
